It is very important to clean and maintain your barbecue to make sure it functions well and gets you through the many hours of entertaining. This can bea tricky job though, especially, if you don’t know where to start. Here is how to clean a BBQ plate.

Clean the BBQ plate while it is hot. Remove any food from the plate and leave the BBQ turned on for a while. Then scrape the residue left from the food with a spatula or a newspaper. Once the BBQ cools off, pour some cooking oil on top of the plate and wipe it up with a brush. After drying, spray with cooking oil and heat for about 15 minutes.

Heat up the grill for 15 minutes, to carbonize grime and food debris. Turn the grill off, disconnect the tank. After cooling, scrub all the carbon you can from the grates with the wire brush that has been dipped in soapy water. Remove anything else from the grill and scrub the grates and panels thoroughly. Re-assemble all the parts and lightly coat the grill grates with vegetable oil.

Clean stainless steel exteriors with hot water and vinegar or a stainless steel cleaner. Regularly with warm soapy water or a stainless steel cleaner to reduce tea staining. Use an all-purpose cleaner or warm soapy water for fat splatters and fingerprints. For the side tables, hood and warming rack, use a sponge and warm soapy water or an all-purpose spray.

While the plate is dry, use a metal scraper or spatula to scrub the corrosion off the plate and remove excess dust with a paper towel. Wipe the surface with a paper towel. Add more oil and wipe until all the rust is gone.

Disconnect the gas supply, detach all removable parts and clean them individually. Dry all the parts thoroughly and coat them with cooking oil to prevent from rusting. Wash the body of the BBQ with hot soapy water and a soft scouring pad.Leave the BBQ to dry and then reassemble. Turn on the BBQ for 15 minutes to burn off any residue.
